Bondville Model Village Visitor Guide

Bondville Model Village is located in Sewerby, near Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire. It is a really cute place to visit and although you’d struggle to spend more than an hour there we love to visit every year as it’s a unique attraction to the area. In fact, I’m pretty sure this is Yorkshire’s only model village? Sewerby Hall and Gardens are located close by so this is a great place to go and combine a visit with.

The attraction has been for sale for the past year so I hope that whoever purchases it takes as much care of it as the current owners. The model village was first created back in 1987 and it took 2 years to build. Today there are around 200 buildings that were all painstakingly created with amazing detail.

Bondville Model Village has its own small car park that is free for visitors. If this is full there is a huge council-run car park right next door. This car park sits right next to the cliffs of Sewerby and there’s a path that goes along here connecting Sewerby Hall and Gardens with Bridlington.

Also here is the platform for the land train that runs from the Bridlington Leisure centre up to Sewerby Hall. You can take the land train and stop off for a visit to the Model Village. It’s a lovely route by the sea and another thing we try to do every year in Bridlington.

The model village has a small tea room that serves some fabulous cake. It a gorgeous little spot with pretty flowers all around. They also serve hot and cold food and drinks. They recommend that you pre-book a table.

It’s in most kids’ nature to rush around places because they want to be the ones to find the next thing first. We find this a lot with our son so we always pick up the kid-friendly trail as that helps them to slow down and try and spot things that you wouldn’t normally spot. The Model Village has been really well put together and it shows all aspects of village life with a church, school, cottages, village shops and more. There is also a train track going around some of the village which kids will love to spot trains running on.

It’s a great place to take lots of photos and make your kids look like giants. We love to spot the miniature people playing sports and going about their daily life. We especially love the castle overlooking the pretty harbour. Bondville is somewhere that I love to support every year as it’s somewhere different and not commercialised. it is what it is!
