East Park Hull | Things to do

I think it’s rained more days this year than we have actually seen the sun. We had yet another day of rain forecast but I was hoping to get out somewhere with the little one. After lots of time on the BBC Weather app, I realised it wasn’t going to be raining in Hull. After a bit more time looking I chose to visit East Park in Hull, East Riding.

East Park in Hull is a large park, the largest in Hull, of around 120 acres. It’s a really beautiful park located on Holderness Road in the heart of the city.

Things To Do – Facilities at East Park

There are plenty of accessible paths around the park and you could spend a good length of time walking around. There are plenty of facilities at the park including outdoor gym equipment, fishing, a library and cafe. Some of the facilities are seasonal.

There is a large playground with a good choice of equipment. There is something to suit all ages. Most of the play equipment is in good condition and relatively new. If you walk straight on from the car park you will come to the playground. Most entrances to the park have a large map and there’s also signposts dotted around.

Next to the playground you will find a large fishing lake. This also has leisure facilities. There is the Wickstead Splash boat (at an additional cost). Plus swan boat pedalos at £2 per person.

In the summer they have a crazy golf course, small childrens rides and a land train. These are all at an additional cost.

It is a lovely park to walk around with plenty of space for playing in. In the middle of the park there is a rocky folly called the Khyber Pass. Climbing is not allowed although we saw many ignoring this.

In 2021 they opened a brand new splash pad. It is huge and very good. We loved it even though it was a cold day, we can’t wait to return. The splash pad is open during the warmer months of the year. You can find out more in this post.
