South Landing Beach Flamborough | Visitor Guide

The South Landing Beach in Flamborough is one of four beaches in this sleepy seaside village. Like the other three beaches access down to the beach is steep but it is one of two of the easiest walks down (and back up again).

You can’t drive down to the beach as there is no car park and access is for lifeboats only. There is however a relatively large pay and display car park at the top of the cliff. In the car park, you will find the Living Seas centre. This is run by the wildlife trust and it’s a great little place for children to learn all about the sea. This is also where the public toilets are located.

You then have two options for your walk down to the beach. You can take the long walk through the nature reserve. This is a mainly wooded area with quite a few picnic benches along the way. One of them has a stunning view out to sea. There is a slightly longer walk around the headland or you can keep walking through the woodland and down some steps to the beach.

The other way down is very accessible as it is a tarmac road going down to the beach. This is a lot shorter but feels a lot steeper.

The beach itself has a rocky headland and there are some really big white rocks and pebbles to be found. These are perfect for building towers and you will usually find a few creations on the beach. The beach is better to visit at high tide as then there is more sand to sit and play on. You can walk around the headland but with the seaweed on the rocks, it can get very slippy.

The sea in this bay is very shallow and you can walk out a long way without it becoming too deep. This is perfect for kids to play in, the waves also tend to not be as big here, especially on a windless day.
